Ravens starting safety not traveling with team; ruled questionable vs. Giants
The Ravens may be down a starting safety against the New York Giants in Week 15 as Ar’Darius Washington will not travel to with the team due to personal reasons. Though he won’t be traveling with the team, Washington has not yet been ruled out, as was the case with now-released veteran safety Eddie Jackson, he’ll be questionable.
Washington has started the past six games for the Ravens and is one of the primary reasons for the defense’s improvement over the past few weeks.
This season, PFF has graded Washington as the No. 24 best safety in the NFL in overall grade (71.8), and No. 14 in coverage grade (73.9).
His promotion to the starting unit over now-released Eddie Jackson and veteran Marcus Williams — in addition to the more deep safety play from Kyle Hamilton — has stabilized the back end of the defense and shored up their big-play struggles from earlier in the season.
If Washington were to be ruled out for Sunday, it’s likely the Ravens will bring back Williams to the starting unit over undrafted rookie Beau Brade and rookie Sanoussi Kane, who is questionable to play with a hamstring injury.
